Water helps. Some have suggested that you drink water slowly so that the hiccup abates whereas others have suggested taking water in huge gulps. Others drink water while there are bent over as they believe that this helps to cure hiccups. In all of these, one constant remain- water. So, you’re your kid drink water to alleviate his hiccup.
- Tickle them
Another thing that is said to help cure a hiccup is tickling. Tickling your kids may help take their minds off the hiccup and before long, it may abate.
- Scare your kids
Another tactic that has been proven to work to cure hiccups is the scare tactic. Scare your kids by jumping out of nowhere when they do not expect it can help cure hiccups.
- Holding your breath
Since it is believed by some that hiccups have to do with breathing, holding your breath for a few seconds could help to stabilize your breathing and cure hiccups. So after ensuring that your kid is sitting down, ask that he holds his breath for at least 10 to 15 seconds. Repeat this as many times as possible until you sense a difference.
- Swallow sugar
Have your kid gulp down a spoonful of sugar as it is said to help cure hiccups.
- Try something sour
Sucking something as sour as lemon has been said to help people cure their hiccups in the past and it could help your kid cure his too.
- Breath into a paper bag
After ensuring that your child is sitting to prevent him from falling because of wooziness, have your kid stabilize his breathing by slowing breathing into a paper bag. This action should be repeated until you notice considerable differences. Also, particular caution should be taken to ensure that you use only a PAPER bag as plastic bags may stick to his face and inhibit his breathing.
